WELCOME BACK 2021 was a bit of a disaster for keeping up with this. The world situation just made it difficult to mentally do things, even though, by rights, there was all of the time in the world. In summary how did MS and the world play together? Photo by David Henry on Pexels.com January…… Continue reading 2022 Reset
Not going out
The UK introduced different classifications of vulnerability, extremely clinically vulnerable and just clinically vulnerable. Those classed as extremely clinically vulnerable were told in March 2020 to basically stay home, do not go out, get everything delivered. MS with no other co-morbidities puts me in the clinically vulnerable and so we could still venture out. However…… Continue reading Not going out
Long time no writing…
I think we all know that 2020 – 2021 has been, well, crap. No one has enjoyed it and just about everyone is struggling to keep their shit together. I thought I’d share over a few posts some of the quirks of the year, get up to date and try and be a bit more…… Continue reading Long time no writing…
Darting about
Apologies for the tardiness. I left you the evening before the Dart 10k swim. Mr Dizzy made yummy Paella. We drank a couple of beers and I inspected my swimming cossie a number of times. Still looking small and cold. A plan was made for the morning to get me to the start line and…… Continue reading Darting about
It’s all going swimmingly
Earlier this year a kayaking friend suggested entering the Dart 10k swim, on the basis that we’d swum a lot of the Dart, having fallen out of our boats on various rapids. I thought that this sounded to be a good idea and so entered. She didn’t, she was joking. I like swimming and challenges…… Continue reading It’s all going swimmingly
Rolling, rolling….
Being a dizzy blonde, rolling a kayak has always been problematic. When it doesn’t work it’s nauseating. Until you practice it doesn’t work. When practice makes you sick, dizzy, unable to walk in a straight line and feel like general crap you don’t practice. Therefore no roll. No roll = no 3* white water pass. …… Continue reading Rolling, rolling….
Learning to stab myself
After making a treatment choice it takes a few months to get an appointment to be shown how to do it. Copaxone (glatiramer acetate) is injected 3 times a week under the skin. I’ve never had to inject myself with anything and whilst I used to give blood (you can’t if you have MS) I…… Continue reading Learning to stab myself
Would you like the treatment that gives you thyroid problems, brain infection, or restricts life for the next few months?
In autumn 2017 I met with specialist MS nurses nurses to discuss the disease and treatment options. My summary of these is: A tablet daily, which is new and has a risk of you developing a brain disease – PML. I’ve seen PML and how it can take high functioning individuals and prevent them working…… Continue reading Would you like the treatment that gives you thyroid problems, brain infection, or restricts life for the next few months?
Trips and falls
It’s been a week of them and who knows if I have just been clutsy or if this is my MS playing. So Healthcare At Home deliver my MS drugs once a month. Because the MS team at the hospital is short on nurses my prescription is late reaching them, meaning I have less than…… Continue reading Trips and falls
Diagnosis
By the time I start my new job I have it confirmed that the CSF showed oligoclonal bands and that, along with the other testing confirms that I have MS. So despite the wearing of big girl pants and this really being confirmation of what was already expected its a bit of a teary, frustrating…… Continue reading Diagnosis
