I think we all know that 2020 – 2021 has been, well, crap. No one has enjoyed it and just about everyone is struggling to keep their shit together.
I thought I’d share over a few posts some of the quirks of the year, get up to date and try and be a bit more disciplined writing as we move forwards.
Mr Dizzy and I were due to go to Canada to paddle in a loooong canoe race in 2020. This is on our list of things to do and in my mind sooner is better than later as you never know quite how and when MS could progress.

We’d completed a 70km paddle on the Norfolk broads in a day just before the UKs first lockdown. Then Covid came to town. We soon got cancelling flights, accommodation and training plans and are pleased to say that everyone was really reasonable about refunding us except for AirCanada who I want to shame for not even refunding the flight that they cancelled. We won’t be doing the race in 2021 as that just seems a bit like taking disease in blankets to remote communities which as Brits we should really make sure doesn’t happen again.
It was upsetting to have put in the work and planning and to have to say not this year but had to happen. Maybe 2022 if the stars align.
After the UKs first wave and before school summer holidays we managed to get a few days on the broads. We’re used to training on them out of season. Crikey when no one can go on holiday abroad they fill up rather a lot and there’s nowhere to go for a quick comfort break anymore.
